Our CompTIA PenTest+ bootcamp provides in-depth knowledge on the five domains (Planning & Scoping, Information Gathering & Vulnerability Identification, Attacks & Exploits, Penetration Testing Tools, and Reporting & Communication) that largely make up the PT0-001 certification exam. This course gives you the skills you need to demonstrate the exam requirement of hands-on ability to test devices in new environments.

While there aren’t any prerequisites to take the CompTIA PenTest+ training course itself, it is recommended that course attendees have Network+, Security+ or equivalent knowledge; or at least 3 – 4 years of hands-on information security or related experience. The exam itself also has no prerequisites, however PenTest+ is intended to follow CompTIA Security+ or equivalent experience that has hands-on focus.

It’s a five-day bootcamp course.

A few days before class, you will receive an email with details on how to access our virtual training room, and physical courseware will be delivered to your shipping address.

Our virtual classes are instructed in a way that mirrors the experience you would get from an in-person course. As such, we believe in and use lots of interactive learning techniques with no more than 20 minutes of lecture at a time. That way, students remain fully engaged and the information sticks! Our virtual training courses are packed with interactive whiteboards, breakout rooms, virtual sticky note walls, and more to help ensure your success on the exam.

Individuals who hold the PMP certification will earn 40 PDUs through the course.

You’ll get a course book, practice CompTIA PenTest+ exam questions, and an exam voucher. Of course, your tuition also includes priceless group activities, as well as discussions and bagels.

CompTIA PenTest+ has been ISO/ANSI approved and is in the DOD 8570 approval process. If you’d like more information on DoD 8570 and the various training options for compliance, please check out DoD 8570 overview.

Our CompTIA PenTest+ training bootcamp is designed for IT security professionals that would like to advance into the fields of Penetration Tester, Vulnerability Tester, Security Analyst II, Vulnerability Assessment Analyst, Network Security Operations or Application Security Vulnerability positions. That said, it’s a good course for anyone interested in learning more about the five CompTIA PenTest+ domains, or plan to sit for the CompTIA PenTest+ certification exam.

The CompTIA PenTest+ exam consists of a maximum of 85 multiple choice and performance-based questions. This exam is unique as it also requires candidates to demonstrate their hands-on ability to test devices in new environments, including the cloud and mobile as well as traditional desktops and servers. The length of the test is 165 minutes and a passing score is 750 or higher (on a scale of 100 – 900). The exam assesses the most up-to-date penetration testing, vulnerability assessment and management skills required to determine the resiliency of the network against attacks.

You’ll receive an exam voucher from your instructor while you’re in class. You’ll use that voucher to sit for the exam at a PSI testing center. You’ll take the exam on a computer (not paper), and you’ll see immediately whether you passed or failed, though you won’t get your exact score until a week or so later. If you pass, you’ll get instructions on what to do next.

Your CompTIA PenTest+ certification is good for three years from the date you pass the exam. You can extend your certification in three-year intervals through continuing education or certification-specific activities and training.

This domain of our CompTIA PenTest+ training gives you the skills to explain the importance of planning and key aspects of compliance-based assessment.

You’ll learn how to gather information to prepare for exploitation, perform a vulnerability scan and analyze the results.

This session focuses on exploiting network, wireless, application and RF-based vulnerabilities, summarizing physical security attacks, and performing post-exploitation techniques.

This component of the CompTIA PenTest+ course features exercises to gather information with various tools, analyze the output and basic scripts (limited to Bash, Python, Ruby, and PowerShell).

You’ll utilize report writing and best practices to explain recommended mitigation strategies for discovered vulnerabilities.

Why Beyond20

How We Teach

People learn differently, so we use a variety of methods to teach concepts throughout the course. In addition to exam preparation and practice quizzes, you'll engage in round-table discussions, group exercises, and games designed to give practical context to the concepts. We take this approach not only because it's more interesting and fun than simply memorizing vocabulary, but because it works.

All of our instructors are experienced practitioners with real world cyber security expertise. (Real experience, too. Like, former-CIO-level experience.)

We're a US-based organization with offices in DC, Phoenix, and San Diego.

Industry-Leading Course Materials

All of our courseware is reviewed multiple times a year to ensure it's up to date, in line with best practice standards, and effective! We incorporate feedback from students to constantly improve our course books, in-class activities, and (sorry) homework. The goal is to provide you with the tools to not only get you through class and pass the exam, but also to have a reliable reference when you get back to the office.

We don't just teach to the exam (though we certainly do that), we also give you practical and personalized tools you can take back to work.

We're a Registered Education Provider with PMI, so if you're PMP Certified, the course will earn you PDUs!
