Need training for a group?

Our CompTIA A+ course gives you the skills to master the eight domains (Hardware, Operating Systems, Networking, Security, Mobile Devices, IT Operations, Troubleshooting, and Procedures). We’ll cover the topics of the CompTIA A+ exam objectives.

While there aren’t any prerequisites to take the CompTIA A+ training course itself, it is recommended that course attendees have 9 – 12 months of hands-on experience in the lab or field.

It’s a five-day bootcamp course.

Individuals who hold the PMP certification will earn 40 PDUs through the course.

You’ll get a course book, practice CompTIA A+ exam questions, and an exam voucher. Of course, your tuition also includes priceless group activities, as well as discussions and bagels.

Short answer: Yes. CompTIA A+ certification will qualify you for IAT Level 1. If you’d like more information on DoD 8570 and the various training options for compliance, check out DoD 8570 overview.

CompTIA A+ certification provides the credentials for technical support and IT operational personnel to take their skills beyond PC repair. It’s geared towards candidates that want to be better prepared to troubleshoot and problem solve a wide variety of issues, ranging from networking and operating systems to mobile devices and security. That said, it’s a good course for anyone interested in learning more about the eight domains, sitting for the CompTIA A+ exams, and/or satisfying the DoD 8140/8570 training requirements.

The CompTIA A+ exam consists of two examinations – CompTIA A+ 220 – 1001 and CompTIA A+ 220 – 1002. The CompTIA A+ 220 – 1001 exam covers mobile devices, networking technology, hardware, virtualization and cloud computing, and network troubleshooting. The CompTIA 220 – 1002 exam focuses on installing and configuring operating systems, expanded security, software troubleshooting, and operational procedures. Each exam consists of a maximum of 90 multiple choice, drag and drop, and performance-based questions, to be completed within 90 minutes per each exam. To pass the examination you’ll need to score 675 (on a scale of 100 – 900) on the 220 – 1001 exam and 700 (on a scale of 100 – 900) on the 220 – 1002 exam.

You’ll receive an exam voucher from your instructor while you’re in class. You’ll use that voucher to sit for the exam at a PSI testing center. You’ll take the exam on a computer (not paper), and you’ll see immediately whether you passed or failed, though you won’t get your exact score until a week or so later. If you pass, you’ll get instructions on what to do next.

Your CompTIA A+ certification is good for three years from the date you pass the exams. To keep your certification current, you have the choice of three renewal options – continuing training, certification and recertification exams or multiple qualifying activities.

Why Beyond20

How We Teach

People learn differently, so we use a variety of methods to teach concepts throughout the course. In addition to exam preparation and practice quizzes, you'll engage in round-table discussions, group exercises, and games designed to give practical context to the concepts. We take this approach not only because it's more interesting and fun than simply memorizing vocabulary, but because it works.

All of our instructors are experienced practitioners with real world cyber security expertise. (Real experience, too. Like, former-CIO-level experience.)

We're a US-based organization with offices in DC, Phoenix, and San Diego.

Industry-Leading Course Materials

All of our courseware is reviewed multiple times a year to ensure it's up to date, in line with best practice standards, and effective! We incorporate feedback from students to constantly improve our course books, in-class activities, and (sorry) homework. The goal is to provide you with the tools to not only get you through class and pass the exam, but also to have a reliable reference when you get back to the office.

We don't just teach to the exam (though we certainly do that), we also give you practical and personalized tools you can take back to work.

We're a Registered Education Provider with PMI, so if you're PMP Certified, the course will earn you PDUs!
