ITIL® Release, Control and Validation (RCV)

Course Description: This 4-day course provides a deeper exposure to the practical aspects of the ITIL® processes associated with the Release, Control, and Validation of services. The main focus of this course is the development of operational subject matter expertise on these processes in a practical, hands-on learning environment.

This training is intended to enable participants to apply ITIL concepts in an engaging case study based approach while preparing to successfully complete the associated exam.

Audience: The Release, Control, and Validation Capability course will be of interest to individuals and / or operational staff who require a comprehensive practical understanding of the Release, Control, and Validation processes:

Change Management
Service Asset and Configuration Management
Service Validation and Testing
Release and Deployment Management
Change Evaluation
Transition Planning and Support
Knowledge Management

IT professionals involved in IT Service Management / ITIL implementation and process improvement programs will find this course particularly useful. Learning Objectives: At the end of this course, the learner will gain competencies in:

Understanding Service Management and Service Transition principles, purpose and objectives;
Knowing the important role of Release, Control, and Validation in service provision and understanding of how the in-scope processes interact with other Service Lifecycle processes;
The activities, methods and functions used in each of the Release, Control, and Validation processes;
The application of Release, Control, and Validation processes, activities and functions to achieve operational excellence;
How to measure performance at a process level;
Understanding technology and implementation requirements in support of a focused set of ITIL processes;
The challenges, critical success factors and risks related with the associated ITIL processes

Prerequisites: Candidates for this course must hold the ITIL Foundations Certification.

Course Student Material: Students receive a copy of the classroom presentation material, practice exam, case study, homework and assignments. ITIL 2011 core books are available for purchase separately.

Credits: Upon successful passing of the ITIL Release, Control and Validation Capability exam, the student will be recognized with 4 credits in the ITIL® qualification scheme.

PMI PDUs: Students who are PMP certified will earn 36 PDUs for this course.
