Project Management / PMO Assessment

BEYOND20 Project Management and PMO Assessment

Gain clear insight into organizational Project Management capabilities and develop a strategic plan for improvement.

BEYOND20's Project Management Capability Assessment has been designed to deliver an understanding of the project management capabilities of your organization across a wide range of Project Management competencies. The assessment can be used to:

  • Provide a capability baseline
  • Help plan early intervention for current projects
  • Assist individuals in preparing for formal accreditation
  • Allow for informed decisions on project allocation and resourcing levels
  • Assess capabilities against an organization's project portfolio
  • Establish a performance management benchmark
  • Identify specific training and professional development needs to reduce operational risk
  • Provide a framework for ongoing measurement of the currency of knowledge and competence, for compliance and audit purposes

Organizational Project Management competencies are assessed against a unique database of statements reflecting "Best Practice", as drawn from significant experience in applying concepts from ISO/IEC 21500, PRINCE2, and PMI's PMBOK® Guide in real project environments. The result is a comprehensive suite of Statement Modules, which apply across all industries and enterprise areas.

To provide objectivity, the assessment is conducted at two levels to obtain a self-assessment and an objective manager's evaluation of capabilities:

  • Level 1: By asking participants to self-assess their capabilities against a structured questionnaire. The questionnaire is provided by email or online, and participants are provided with the ability to call the Beyond20 Assessment Facilitator if they have questions.
  • Level 2: By asking the participants' manager, sponsor or project client, brief questions about the capabilities of the participant. The same structure as above is used, although fewer questions are asked.

Following completion of the assessment, a consolidated report will be produced by the BEYOND20 Facilitator summarizing participant trends from the assessment group. The facilitating consultant will provide organizational and professional development recommendations. These may include education, mentoring and coaching, reading, study and work experience. Challenges with the use and application of organizational work practices and methodologies are also often discovered at a high level during the assessment.

The Beyond20 Project Management Capability Assessment can be used as a standalone assessment service or with a Project Management simulation event as part of a program to develop organizational Project Management strategy and build stakeholder support.
